Had a great last few days. I took my nephew on Saturday (youth hunt). We got one heck of a show. We had 2 toms dancin and a prancin within about 60 yards but would not come any closer(they decided to follow some hens). He had a jake in twice at 20 yards and he decided not to shoot it. We also saw something that I have never seen. A hen go into full strut and come right into our decoys, way neat. And yes I can tell the difference between a hen and a jake. Anyway we made a move and called in a nice two year old that was by himself. I will post pictures soon. 21 lbs, 9.5" beard and 3/4" spurs.
My hunt started Monday and I put those same two toms to bed Sunday night. I had patterned these birds, so I knew that these were the same birds. I got in early Monday morn. and had the whole flock with 35 yards. I took what I thought was the biggest bird and sent the rest scattering. 23.5lbs, 9-1/4" beard, 1-1/4" spurs. Definitly one of my best birds.
Came back home and helped a buddy kill his bird at 11:30. 23lbs, 9-1/2" beard and 1-1/8" spurs. As we sat and talked about the hunt had a hen start up to one side of us and I started to call at her so my other buddy could tape her and ended up calling in another tom within 25 yards. Three guys, one gun, no tags. oh well that was pretty cool. The third guy that was with us killed his bird around 9:30 that morn 20lbs, 10" beard 3/4" spurs. I will post pictures soon.

Yes, I am going 4th season. I am going to go with a friend this weekend unless he shoots his bird on Friday. I hunt in NE Iowa, around Monona and I also hunt around my home town of Independence. Good luck this Friday. The birds are definitly following hens around right now, with less gobbling once they hit the ground. The birds are very patternable also.
