Any Arkansas Hunters besides me?
 

Hey Im from Arkansas and hunt mostly in Pope County. I was wondering if any of you on here are from Arkansas and what yaw have been hearing or seeing. Around here its been a lot different than last year. I was hearing Turkeys gobble at the first of March last year and really havent heard them much this year until the last few weeks. Im pumped about season oppening Saturday and I wish you all luck!

hey, yah man, i do most of my hunting in pope county as well, being from russellville. It seems like the birds aren't real active yet, and they haven't split up, but this weather may have them changing their patterns here in a couple of days. Good luck this season!!

Hey man.. Im from Pottsville so thats wheere most of my hunting goes on. Although I do venture out to yell county every now and then.

Yah, I'm a displaced Arkansan in Texas. But most of my hunting is done in southern Union County close to where I grew up (El Dorado).

Hey,
I'm in Arkansas too and do all my hunting in Bee Branch(Van Buren County) although I live in Faukner Co. This will be my first season to hunt turkey at this place, so I'm not sure how it will go. We did see alot of birds when we were squirrel hunting last fall, so hopefully we'll see em again this time around.

This Saturday is opening day!!!!! However, I won't be going out because I have to go take this big test thing early in the morning.Sucks.[:@][:@]

Good luck to you... to bad you have to miss oppening day to take a test! I dont think season is going to be as good this year as it was last year but I do believe that the afternoon is probablly going to be better than the mornings. Ive allways hunted all day but Ive notice much more activity in the noon this year than I have in the past.

I'm from up in Washington County and do all my hunting in Madison County. Bout all public land.

So far there has been little and no gobbling. We are just way behing schedule, but I predict there will be a great week or two at the end of season.

im here in arkansas i hunt in pulaski and perry county the birds are just starting to split up here i did get one to come to me last weekend and my son got him but other then that they are not realy saying alot once off the roost

I live and hunt in Faulkner county. Most of the birds around here are really pressured making them tough to hunt. The birds are still bunched-up in general even though I did see 6 long beards by themself two weeks ago about 1 hr after daylight. That's where I'll be in the morning, but that place is covered with hens. My cousin did manage to get a jake last wknd there on the youth hunt, but the toms showed very little interest in us, just sat in the trees until the real hens came to them.

Hey, I'm in northeast Arkansas. Randolph County. Went out this morning for opening day. We heard a few on the roost right at daybreak but nothing else all morning. Didn't get one but gonna try again tomorrow. Otherwise it was a beautiful morning and great to be out in the woods.
Anyone else have any luck?

They have been gobbling pretty good around here for a couple of weeks. I hunt in NE Arkansas and I killed one Saurday morning and called up one for another guy on Sunday morning. Good luck to you guys!

Hi yall!!! Living in Polk Co. in the Ouchita Mts up near Shady I'm able to get out and hunt them there Toms everyday. They have just started answering my calls off the back porch the last 2 weeks or so. It seems that they're only vocal early in the morning and then very rarely the rest of the day. I take the ATV on the back road to Dallas and every once in a while I get one to answer in the afternoon---but rarely so far. I was seeing quite a few in my food plots before the season started but not a single one since it started.....(: So I think they're just starting to break up and starting to get vocal. There hasn't hardly been any hunters this year so far go by the house so not much pressure yet. I've seen some huge birds in the area so I'm out to bust a couple of big Toms----one with the 12 ga and one with the Parker. Good luck to yall this season and keep the rest of us posted on how you're doing!!!!

Went out Saturday to hunt in Van Buren Co. and was able to locate and roost 3 nice gobblers. They all had some really nice beards!! They aren't vocal at all, except the boss tom will answer in the early morning to an owl hoot.
With any luck I'll be able to go take one soon. I have to wait for just the right time and place, because I'm hunting with my bow, without a blind or screen or anything.

The first time I went to the Dover Lights I of course thougth that they were in Dover... man was I wrong. I felt like we were closer to Branson than Dover! The hunting has been pretty good even though I havent got one yet. Me and a buddy had an ol gobbler goin this morning and he had some hens in the tree with him and one hen flew across a creek and the other one flew and allmost landed in my buddies lap.. Im talking he could have reached his gun out and touched this hen.. it was wild. The big boy shut up after about an hour or two of gobbling and we havent heard him since then. Ive been to the good places but I just havent had much luck but it has been exciting. Good luck to all of yaw Arkansas Hunters!

Just thought I'd get this Arkansas turkey hunting section back on the first page....:) How's everyone doing so far? Been hearing quite a bit of gobbleing in the morning here in Polk Co. but then it's quiet the rest of the day. Talked to an old guy yesterday that said he missed one with a 11 in beard.......said that wouldn't happen again....:) Good luck out there and let us hear how the hunting is in Arkansas!!!!

Its been pretty interesting here-don't know how else to say it.lol The birds are out there, but they won't gobble or make any vocal noise. They didn't even putt when we jumped them accidentally.
These same birds don't have any hunting pressure what so ever, except the 4 times I've been out this year. Hopefully I can take one...
Lets hear how the rest of ya'll Arkies are doin...
