Camo tape for shotguns
All of my shotguns have wood stocks and blue'd barrels. Is there a good camo tape for a shotgun that will be easy to remove from the gun when turkey season is over? I do not want to ruin the existing finish on my guns.

RE: Camo tape for shotguns
I've used the plastic or vinyl tape with no problem. I used to put WD-40 on the metal before applying the tape and had no problem with rust underneath or residue when I removed it. If you have an oil finish on your wood stock that doesn't shine, don't worry about taping the wood.

STAY AWAY FROM THE NO MAR TAPE!!!! I put no mar on both my rifle and my shotgun because it said it left no sticky residue...ITS A LIE! I had to scrub my guns for about 2 hours each before i got the sticky residue off my guns and it is still all marked up from it. Just a warning for you because my friend used it and had the same problem.

Try some Carburator cleaner to get the residue off your gun...

Mineral oil will help get the residue off of your gun. I had that problem last year, the oil helped alot.

Use Denatured Alcohol, won't leave a residue on the metal.
Isopropyl Alcohol will clean the metal but will leave a reidue,Denatured Alcohol won't. All other product's you use will leave a residue. Must lightly oil all metal parts when done. |
RE: Camo tape for shotguns
i oil my gun before i tape it and thats big,and if i get caught in a good rain i remove it,oil it,and tape it again that night.if you leave it your going to have a rust dilema and spend plenty of time removing it.bottom line, take care of your gun.
