RE: Getting a late start in the morning
I hate getting up in the morning so sometimes I sleep in, I know bad boy! I have got birds from sun up to late afternoon......I actually seem to have better luck from 8 to about 10. I also enjoy afternoon hunting if it is not too hot, find the roost & just cluck & purr & wait. if they don't see you they will come. oh yea here in KY we can hunt all day so check your laws for your state.

I don't always get out early ,and it doesn't seem to make that much difference .

RE: Getting a late start in the morning
I called in a lonesome tom last season at 11:00 am .The hen was on the nest and he started gobbling his head off around 10:30 .

RE: Getting a late start in the morning
I've killed many after 8:00 AM so you shouldn't have any problem. You will just not get that gobbling sunrise, fly down kackle, or tom flying right into your decoy setup. Sneak in and setup quitely and blast them with a few yelps and just see what happens.
Coming straight off of work without sleep, your only problem will be those power naps your brain will be asking for!!!! Lefty Llewellyn |
RE: Getting a late start in the morning
You shouldn't have any problems. Usually get most action between 8 and 10. I think this is the time the toms are moving around looking for hens and doing things that toms do.
