Anybody want to suggest some good videos for the beginner? I have three so far. "So you want to be a turkey hunter", "QB mouth calls for beginners", and another QB I can't remember the name of that one. The " So you want to be a turkey hunter is pretty good. The other ones that I have aren't that great.
I'm looking for a video, or cassette tape that I can follow along with and mimick(sp) the sounds/calls. There seems to be soo many videos and tapes out there just wondering if you guys had used any of these products and could point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Popere- I see that you live out west so I don't know if there are a lot of calling contests out there so this may not work for you. However if you can find a contest with some good callers in it, go to the contest and film it. That will give you the best video you could ask for. If not, try Spittin Feather's CD by Knight and Hale I think. I bought MAD's Beginner Mouth Calling video about 5 years ago. It was ok but nothing beats filming some really good callers in action. Hope this helps-

that, and get out in the woods, listen to your birds, your not gonna call too many if you dont sound like the birds in that particular area.
When the season comes around, spend time out looking and listening, plus, your presence may desensitize them to human contact some, make em less skittish.

Spittin' Feathers CD is a good one to listen to to get an idea of what turkey talk sounds like.
Now as far as a video to teach you tips and tricks of turkey hunting, as well as some just unbelieveable footage, I highly recommend Denny Gulvas' Challenging Pressured Gobblers. It's one of the best hunting videos I've ever saw.

Your on the right track. When I started turkey hunting I had know one to help me out so I had to learn how to turkey hunt the hard way. I started out with friction calls and after about 3 seasons I felt confident enough to use the mouth calls.
I would recomend some books like Spring Gobbler Fever By Micheal Hanback.
Dont expext to much at first it takes a few seasons to break the code on these spring gobblers!!! Unless your blessed with good turkey hunting ground

I was lucky. A friend of my Dad took me "under his wing." I learned from an avid turkey hunter who was and still is a great teacher. I treasure all the hunts he took me on. He has sinced moved away, but his teachings and memories live on........
