RE: How many calls
slate, aluminum, and glass friction call with 4 different strikers. The primos "FREAK" with frictionite. 4 mouth calls. One box call. One crow call.
Had to adapt my vest a little to my own liking but have everything fitting nicely now. |
RE: How many calls
ORIGINAL: Popere How many different calls do all of you guys carry? Aluminum H.S. Strut Black Magic call Harrison Game Calls Osage Orange slate call American Friction Cut-N-Paddle box call 2-3 H.S. Strut mouth diaphragm calls 3-4 strikers for the pot calls Primos Power Crow call If these calls won't get the job done, then I might as well go back to the house and try again the next morning! You don't need a vest full of calls to be successful, just be proficient with the ones you have! Good luck! |
RE: How many calls
Way too many..may carry 3 long box's, 4 regulars, 6 or 8 slates..30 diaphragms..locator calls..kitchen sink... I need to sew up some of the vest pockets.

RE: How many calls
I used to work for H.S. Strut and 2 of the best calls they make, that I carry, no else has listed here. Triple Glass and Double Slate over Glass, I was surprised no one listed these calls. I never go out in the woods with out them. My go to calls so to speak. Add a rosewood striker and dead turkey! The 2 mouth calls I go to are a Split VIII and a Strut Cutt, both by H.S. Strut.

RE: How many calls
Wow! You guys aren't messing around. I need to get me a box call and I think I will be set for my first season. I figure that after the spring season I will know a little bit better what I'll need. But from listening to ya'll I have only begun to scratch the surface.
When I first decided that I wanted to go turkey hunting I thought that I had most of everything that I would need at least to get started. I guess it's like every other kind of hunting, there's always something else it seems like that you need to add to your bag, or vest. |
RE: How many calls
I just bought 2 new diaphragm calls this evening. I got Primos diamond cut 3 reed and a Primos Piggyback stacked frame Boss Hogg. The Boss Hogg is excellent, it is extremely clear sounding and raspy. You get a deep note and a higer scratchy sounding note at the same time. I think it will be about my main diaphragm call this year. The other one is good too, but the hogg is awesome.

RE: How many calls
I carry an HS Strut Hammerin' Crow call. 2 box calls. 3 pot and peg (HS Strut 360 slate, Knight & Hale aluminum, and Primos Power Crystal) about 10 or 12 strikers. A push button gun mount box call. A Primos gobble call. The panhandler call holder. And numerous (10-15) mouth calls. Then add chalk, sandpaper, scratch pad, etc for conditioning your calls when needed and it all adds up to a very full vest. I still have a few pockets left, so I'm on the lookout.:)[8D]
