Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Turkeys in Texas

I was wondering if anybody here can tell me which type (eastern or rio) lives in the area around Houston. I have a friend that lives in Deer Park (just east of Houston) and could stay there when season comes in. Thanks.

Thanks guys I was hopeing you would say Rio's. I looked at a map that showed the subspecies range but couldn't tell in that area.

Well if you go around Victoria, south of Houston there are Rios. If you go west there are Rios. If you go two hours north you find Easterns. I don't know of any good turkey hunting within an hour of Deer Park or Houston itself tho.
