I have tried what you said. My gun is shooting where I aim but I am not getting real tight patterns like others are posting.

My words were typed wrong. I meant that I was afraid to shoot 3" because I didn't want to possibly lose extra shot and yardage.

I think I need to try another choke but this is my second choke. The first was a pattern master and now the ventilator (.655). Both of these chokes are at opposite ends of the spectrum. PM is really open and the ventilator is constricted. What now?

P.S. does anyone have a choke they want to sell that didn't pattern good in their 870?

Shoot whatever patterns best in your gun.

3" = more pellets, 3 1/2" = more yardage. They should almost pattern the same at 40 yards.

I agree with Ed. on this one. See what the gun wonts then use it. A bird at 10 yards is 4 time more fun than at 40.
