Have you guys ever experienced a time when the Toms just won't talk? It happened last year. They just weren't very vocal. Any tips or suggestions? Aggressive calling? Passive? Dekes? No dekes? Any help will be appreciated.

That seemed to happen more than usual last year. One suggestion would be to set up at a strut zone before daylight and be patient.Use soft callin and some dekes might help also.

I think this is when good scouting and woodsmenship comes into play. If you know where turkeys are using it is much easier to kill them or at least get in his kitchen and fire him up.

I experience this a lot my self. I think it has to do with hunting presure before and during season, at lease in my areas I hunt. Scouting is the key to help you out and me. I try an find the Boss Hen an piss her off and get her talking and some times it brings a Tom in, but its more fun with her being pissed off than having a Tom come in. They act just like a wife when they are Mad.

Once turkeys feel pressure alot of times they will clam up, but most of the time they are still in the area. I revert back to soft calling in the morning and lots of patience. Or just put on the light camo, hiking shoes and walk your tail off.
