Default Beat time to hunt turkey

Obviously the best time is early morning. Is mid afternoon to late afternoon second best or is there another time of the day that is good?

Late morning is not bad if you know where the turkeys go to strut when the hens leave.

I'm with moonge. All day till dark if that's what it takes. We'll sometimes amble back toward camp for lunch and a little nap, then it's back out there looking.

I've never killed one in the afternoon, but they're still in the woods so I am, too.

id say between sun up and sun down. dont always have to kill something to have a &quot;great day in the woods&quot;<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

If you cant get on one early, mid day is good. Often times the hens will leave the gobblers and begin nesting, which leaves Mr. Gobbler very lonely. I also like evening hunting. I have actually had alot of success hunting in the evenings. but nothing beats seeing that sun come up and having that old longbeard sounding off.

My favorite time is gobbling on the roost till flydown. When the gobbling ceases after flydown and there's no activity nearby--that's a beat time for me!
