I know its probably been asked before, but the other day two of my boys were practicing there calling, one on a turkey call and the other on a duck call, and my wife told me to shut em up!I remember quite some time ago when I was younger I practically lived with a diaphragm turkey call in my mouth.About the only time I truly practice now is if I'm competing in a contest, get a new call,or really only about a month before turkey season starts. Not much compared to when I was a youngster. How about all you turkey hunters do you drive your family crazy with turkey talk?

not enough Bob! I don't even pick up a turkey call, before about
2 or 3 weeks before season opens, except for the few times i use
em in the fall. I guess i figure I'm about as good as I'm gonna
get(that ain't too good) so I don't practice much at all.

I usually don't mess with calls till the day before the opener.Like Bobgobble2 when I was younger I always had a call with me.Now days my 10yr old drives my wife nuts with calls.I got a chuckle one night while I was on here.Jake was playin on a call in the other room and just as I was ready to tell him to speed up the cadence I heard his mother tell him to speed it up a little. She's never called herself but she's heard lot's of callin over the years.

Once in awhile at this time of year I'll pick one up and play with it for a bit,but don't get serious till the middle of March or so.When I get a new call,I'll putz with it for awhile no matter what time of the year.

I'm sure like most of you my wife doesn't give out many compliments on my looks or dress habits. Although this morning she gave me the best compliment I could ever ask. We got about 4 in of snow from midnight till dawn and a flock decided to roost right behind our house, up on the hill. My better half came out on the porch as I was enjoying the sweet sounds and said " that sounds like you". Well she hears me alot around the house, and I know she was just being nice; but I did give her breakfast in bed.

I call when driving down the road in my truck . That way I don't offend anyone ,but I do get some funny stares by passing motorists .
