Default Turkeys 2 My Brother 0!!!!!

It's my brothers first year turkey hunting I've been going along to video the action & give him some calling tips. Yesterday he got one into the decoys shot a good strip of feathers off his back the arrow glanced off the turkeys back and ended up in a tree, he didn't even break the skin!
Don't get me wrong my brother is a pretty good target shooter but has only shoot one deer with the bow! The had forgotten to put into affect that his bow is going to shoot a little high at 13yds plus it was a down hill shot!

This morning he had two come in and one is one of the biggest birds I've ever seen! I've only been turkey hunting for the last couple of years! They crossed a river and curcled to behind the blind were they hung up for around 20 minutes finally they walked right beside the blind to the decoys he shot low a 18yds. He is really dissapointed in himself does anyone have any words of encouragement for him? Maybey a similar story. I told him live targets are alot different than the foam ones!

Last year I shot at one and it was closer than I'd though. I glanced it off his back as well. Just keep trying and sooner or later you'll get one.

take a shotgun!!!
DoubleLung beat me to it. Attempting to take a turkey with a bow is difficult at best......attempting it his first year......well, Good Luck. That's the best words I can come up with. It would be a great achievement if he does score with the bow this year, but even with a shotgun, we all have to learn to accept pitfalls in the turkey woods. Keep at 'em, maybe it'll come together.

tell him i said good luck and to hang in there.....turkey hunting with a bow has to be very difficult......its hard enough not to get busted just sitting there let alone drawing on a bird.......turkey fever will get the best of you.....tell him to think out what hes doing and try to get the distance dialed in close as possible so he doesnt miss......slow down and think about whats going on...maybe he will think and fix a mistake.......good luck.......
