Will a jake "put"

I've only turkey hunted for 3 years, but I've always been under the impression that only hens would "put". Well, this morning I had a jake within about 30 yards and it was "putting" away. Was this a jake or could it have been a bearded hen?

A "putt' is basically the sound they make to warn of danger.

Only if he's inside 40 feet and on the green!!!

Couldn't resist Mr. King!!The guys are right on the money yes jakes can putt and often times add a purr to it too when they by sight realize somethings not right.
