I'd go with the limbsaver if you can. Also Bearpaw outfitters makes a neoprene slip over with an assortment of foam add ins. I used that, realitively inexpensive and deadens the blow enough.

I put one on my 870 and it made a big difference with magnum loads. If you have a Remington you could use the new R3. I think that it is also made by Limbsaver and just marketed under Remington.

the pad that comes standard on the 870 express is what i use. never have really been bothered by recoil when shooting at game, never seem to notice it when im trying to fold a tom, knock a rooster outta the sky or take down a whitetail.

RE: what kind of recoil pad????????
I put a Limbsaver on my Mossberg 935 and now I never even notice any recoil.
JRS--A gunsmith can get the right Limbsaver recoil pad for any synthetic stock, and if they don't make one that fits exactly, then they get a "grind to fit" Limbsaver. Since my Mossberg 935 is new to the market, Limbsaver hasn't made one specifically for the 935's stock, so my gunsmith got a grind to fit, and made it fit. It looks like it was custom-made for the gun, or like it originally came with the gun, however you'd like to say it. AND, IT WORKS!!!!
