NOVA & SB1-F10 Patterns
#1
Finally got patterning that I have confidence in. Yesterday went out and shot Remington HeviShot 12ga in 3½" 1¾oz #5 shot and 3½" 1-7/8oz #5 shot in both my NOVA and my new NEF SB1-F10 single shot.
In the NOVA I used the factory full choke as that's all I have at this time.
In the NEF I used a StarDot ported choke. The factory tube and a TruGlo xtreme didn't pattern well.
Both guns are definitely turkey killers. I backed off (just for fun) to 49 yards and fired one at the target with the NOVA. I'd take a shot at that if conditions were right without hesitating. The 1-7/8oz loads patterned better in actual count and just by looking at the paper. All yardages were measured, not merely stepped off.

Titleist, if you can find a StarDot choke for the Benelli I'd give it a try. The pattern above with the NEF single shot is WAY better than I had with two other chokes. I have a StarDot in my 870 that patterns really well with Winchester Premiums (haven't shot any HeviShot through it yet). If I could find one for my NOVA I'd buy it.

They carry the StarDot at WalMart but good luck finding one for the Benelli. The guy in the sporting goods dept. told me they had them but only had 3 and they sold quickly. If I ever come across one I'll buy it!
