This is my first year hunting turkey and awhile ago I purchased a Benelli Nova pump 20 gauge. I'm pretty much on my own with turkey hunting, so it's all going to trail and error for awhile. Just wanted to know the opinions of those that hunt with the Benelli Nova and maybe some insight or tips! Thanks in advance!

ID,I've never used that particular gun.I'm sure it will get the job done,as long as you know it's limits. The only way to learn these limits is to pattern the gun. There's lots of past posts on patternin guns or if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

I have a Nova in 12 guage and love it! Great shooting and pointing gun. I just patterned mine with a Primos "Jelly Head" choke and Remington 3" #6 hevi shot and was very impressed.
The gun takes down very easily to be cleaned. Only problem some people have is that the forearm is loose. This allows for dirt and crud to be in the action and the gun will still operate. However you can tighten the allen srews at the rear of the forearm ( NO MORE then 1/10" of a turn at a time) and this will help with the rattle.
Good luck and enjoy the new gun!!!

I've got the NOVA in 12 ga 24" barrel and love it. Haven't had the chance to pull the trigger on a turkey yet with it but hope to in about 3 weeks.
Mine patterned real well with just the factory full choke with #5 Remington HeviShot. Get some and give her a try.

Thanks for all the input everybody! I'll have to find some posts about the patterning and figure out what that's all about! I've noticed the rattling and I'll fix that this weekend, thanks for the heads up on how to fix that though!
Ultimag, nope, haven't done any hunting at all over here yet. Seen quite a few turkeys running around and heard a ton of great things about the area though.

ID,Sometimes I don't know where my manners are.WELCOME,Good to have another hen join our flock and welcome to turkey huntin
To pattern your gun you'll wanna shoot it at targets at diffrent yardages,I'd suggest start at 20yds and work your way out 5 yds at a time.try diffrent shells(brand, shot size etc.) they will all shoot diffrent you may even wanna try a diffrent choke. What you're gonna be lookin for is a pattern with no big gaps in it.and a good # of bb's in the kill zone.the further you shoot the less effective your pattern will be.This is important since this will determine the effective killin range of your gun. This should help get ya started,If ya have any more questions feel free to ask.The people here are more than glad to help
