anything a guy can do to help with nesting?

Make brush piles close to feeding areas, fields where there is an abundance of bugs for the poults to eat. Try to keep peopleout of that area during the time when the hens will be sitting on the nests. And yes start raccoon and possum hunting.

In addition to predator control, controlling or cutting back the underbrush & tall grass can help. It can allow turkeys to use their keen eyesight to avoid poult killers. In areas with lots of places for predators to hide, poult loss can be very high.

I agree with Pat on what can help. I've seen many hens/discovered turkey nests on spots such as under partly fallen logs, in brush edges, etc., so I'd think making a brush pile would be a good idea, if you keep it loose so the hens can find a spot on the ground where they could make a nest. I think that cutting and leaving smaller timber would be good, too, maybe like the clear cut suggestion. And getting to the field edges is especially good. I've seen/discovered more nests/nesting hens on the outside edges of heavy woods than elsewhere.
