i dont think i will be hunting turkey this spring bcause ill be playing baseball everyday bcause i play for the high school now but i might hunt em during the fall but probably not because id rather be bow hunting

Sounds to me like your priorities are a little mixed up.;) Take it from me, if you pass up a hunt (especially with your dad) you'll look back on those days later as wasted.

I was in the same boat when I was in highschool. I played ball in the spring. I would skip class and hunt on the days when we didn't have games(Had to be at school to play on game days). It was tough and I got chewed out by the coach a few times, but hey, it worth it:D

I'm a senior in High School and I take time off every spring to go to the woods and do my favorite thing in the world.....hunt turkeys!!!

I'd say you're crazy too pass up turkey hunting for baseball. I don't care how bad of a tongue-lashing the coach gives you. Nothing compares to gobbling turkeys in the spring, not even pitching a no-hitter or hitting a home run in the bottom of the ninth, bases jacked and a full count. :D

My son played all the sports and loved playin them but when he turned 12 and became old enough to hunt he said he was done with them,baseball would conflict with Spring gobbler,soccer would conflict with fall turkey and basketball would conflict with deer season.This was all his idea:)

I see a few options 1. Either you are really good and will go to college or the minors in which case you should paly ball. 2. You are good, but baseball is not in your future after school, so play now while you still can, turkeys will still be there after school. 3. you aren't that good and just ride the pine barely getting in, in which case you should bag it and go hunting.

you do what you want and enjoy the most. hopefully you can get out on Sat and Sun. ?? I am in the same boat with my brother - he plays sports (and is one of the top athletes in his school) all year long. Therefore he doesn't get to hunt at all - we try and get him out 1 or 2 times but didn't happen this past year. I think a state chapionship in football will do over hunting for this year and next (most likely) (I even missed several days due to football games and wouldn't have changed a thing). hopefully he will have the urge to hunt when he is out of school & college. I say play while you are young - it gets much harder as you get older and the woods will always be there.

Your playing baseball, and since your team depends on you, you should be committed to them...I played baseball in high school and college and there's no harm in missing a class to run after turkeys, IF you can keep up with your school work and there's not a game on that day....I say think about it before totally saying yay or nay.

Good luck Deerslayer357 on the baseball this spring. I look back on playing baseball in high school and college as a great time in my life along with hockey, football, and track in my high school years. I still miss it to this day and once it's gone...it's gone. Luckily, I get to lace up the skates once a week in the winter but it's not the same intensity. So make the most of it. You might want to buy a turkey license just in case you can slip away for a morning or two. If not, you'll have plenty of time in the years to come to get out in the spring woods...

I'd stick with your school stuff and hunt on the weekends, you'll regret not playing later in life, I mistakenly passed up my Senior year of Football and regret it to this day, some fifteen years later[:@] .My team went to the playofffs for the first time in thirty years that season. I hope it was just a coincidence;).
Besides if playing ball is in your future maybe you'll be able to afford turkey hunting the rest of your life;):D

Playing on a ball team with your buddies is a LOT of fun. Enjoy high school. There will be time to turkey hunt if you really want to go after them. Do what YOU want to do, and don't look back.

guys give him a break dang.....you guys are harsh.....your not a real hunter....you got your priorities mixed up ect......i know they were jokes but man.....im in highschool.....but my dad got me interested in hunting and fishing before i could walk.....all my life i never wanted to do anything but hunt fish and be where i love to be.....in the woods.....and im not one of htem misfits that are wierd and noone wants to talk to or anything because they are weird.....i fit in fine.....my friends are actaully the football players and baseball and everything.....they try to get me to play once in a while......but htey know its a lost cause.....but hey.....if you rather do that then hunt its your life......i say go for it.....turkeys will always be there....i just rather hunt and fish.......ive lost girlfriends because i wont goto the christmas formal because i hate formals and the real reason....because it is always on the last day of deer rifle season....thats an important day in my book.....noones taking that one from me......this year a bunch of my friends and i and my friends family dad a big drive that day.....like we did all season......only all my friends had to goto the dance an leave about 1......i hunted with the older guys the rest of the day......cant remember what we seen but we had fun......and thats what its all about.......if you dont have fun doing what your doing dont waste your time.....good luck with baseball......have fun.....you can stop in and read our turkey hunting stories.....

Do whats most important to you man. There will be many other turkey hunts but the time you have in school to hang out with your friends and play ball will go by before you know it. Then what? You'll be an old fart bitchin about the weather and typing on the computer with nothin else to do! You'll be thinking about how you wished you would have played that game and impressed the chicks and made a good play..those are the memories you want. IMHO
