Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default barrel length

does the barrel length make any differance for performance for turkey hunting. I see the "turkey guns" are shorter. I figured this just better for handling. my 1300 has the reg. bird barrel with a kicks gobblin thunder choke and the clamp on fiber optic sights.

The barrel length on turkey guns (being shorter) is for better manueverability in the brush and weight of the gun. Other than that, they don't really have any other purpose to be short. Depending on your hunting area, the long barrel won't inhibit your hunting by being too long. As long as the gun performs, it'll be fine. Of course, you can be like me and tell the 'ole lady that you have to get another gun for turkey hunting just as an excuse to get another gun.

Either way it shouldn't make a difference for you. Just shoot what you have if you feel comfortable.

I realize that turkey shotguns have a shorer barrell, however, how do they perform when shootin dove or quail? Is it not as accurate ore will it perform the same as a longer barrell gun?

Bucks4, the 1300 is a great turkey gun IMO. What do you think of it? It is longer than a lot of turkey guns, but there is not a difference in the ability to shoot tighter or farther. All that affects pattern and distance is the type of shell and the choke type/length. BB

Thanx for all the feed back. this is my second season of
Turkey this May. I like my 1300 alot. it is a combo that shoots slugs good also throuth the non-rifled deer barrel that came with it. Since the south half of the state is shotgun only for deer, This is a great Multi-use gun for the money.I also been practing the mouth and glass/slate calls. I came close last year. what a rush.. Not a lot of them birds here in NH but they are around. Thanx all.
