I didn't have a gun dipped but I Bought one that had a dipped camo on it. I got bug spray on it and the oil base dip MELTED. I just sent the stock back to have it fixed.
Most shotguns can get a baked on camo. you might want to spened the extra $ to get that. If not Don't get bug spray on it !!!

I have a matte finish barrel, so I just camo'd my stock and fore end. I used Camo spray paint and found some natural swamp ferns and used them as stencils. I think it looks awesome.

Do you still have to paint your gun if it is black synthetic?

Save your money even more and don't bother with any of it. I have NEVER EVER come across a turkey that cared that my gun is still the stock wood and black color. I've had them walk 10 feet off to my left and not spook one bit.

Personally, I think gun camo (and sometimes, camo in general) is a complete waste of money and nothing more than a brilliant marketing scheme.

I had a bird bolt once at 30 yards a few years back when he caught the glare off a blued barrel. Never again... I useCamo Clad too.

Dipping... can't comment on it. Never had it done other than from the factory.

"lahunter"... Your black synthetic is fine for the turkey woods, IMO.
