RE: GUN CAMMO
I didn't have a gun dipped but I Bought one that had a dipped camo on it. I got bug spray on it and the oil base dip MELTED. I just sent the stock back to have it fixed.
Most shotguns can get a baked on camo. you might want to spened the extra $ to get that. If not Don't get bug spray on it !!! |
RE: GUN CAMMO
Save your money and spray paint your gun. Cost ya 4 bucks.
|
RE: GUN CAMMO

RE: GUN CAMMO
...Camo Tape your barrel from the reciever to the bead, and go hunting...:)..
..JESUS IS COMING BACK BE READY... |
RE: GUN CAMMO
I have a matte finish barrel, so I just camo'd my stock and fore end. I used Camo spray paint and found some natural swamp ferns and used them as stencils. I think it looks awesome.

RE: GUN CAMMO
Do you still have to paint your gun if it is black synthetic?
|
RE: GUN CAMMO
Save your money even more and don't bother with any of it. I have NEVER EVER come across a turkey that cared that my gun is still the stock wood and black color. I've had them walk 10 feet off to my left and not spook one bit.
Personally, I think gun camo (and sometimes, camo in general) is a complete waste of money and nothing more than a brilliant marketing scheme. -Mike |
RE: GUN CAMMO
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY CAMO CLAD.
|
RE: GUN CAMMO
I had a bird bolt once at 30 yards a few years back when he caught the glare off a blued barrel. Never again... I useCamo Clad too.
------ Dipping... can't comment on it. Never had it done other than from the factory. ------ "lahunter"... Your black synthetic is fine for the turkey woods, IMO. |
RE: GUN CAMMO
I think that camo is needed to a certain degree. I have several shotguns that I would not want to take out into the woods due to thier being too shiny and reflect the sunlight too much. You can get away with not camo'ing your gun as long as you don't move it around. The wild turkey may not see or pay attention to it as long as you don't move it. Once you move around with it, you may get busted. This is why I have camo'ed my turkey guns out with regular old spray paint or have bought them that way. It gives me a little piece of mind knowing that I could move a little bit without being seen by a big tom, even though anything is possible.

RE: GUN CAMMO
If you don't care what your gun looks like, sprat paint is the way to go. Get a few flat colors. Flat auto primer is very cheap.
The different camo thing is sales hype. Woodland/Army camo is a good as any. |
RE: GUN CAMMO
Spray paint here too!But I'm pretty lucky because I have a very good freind of mine that paints cars and he blow brushes it on for me.Put some pretty cool designs on it for me.Looks awesome!Movement scares em more than anything and good camo gives you a liitle freedom to get away with it,so I definately reccomend camoflauge. To not have camo just gives the bird an easier opportunity to make you out.Loose one big gobbler to a shiny barrel or no camo and you'll change your mind.I've had it happen and it "sucks"! :)
