jmac, The thing that conserns me with the Bow is that 95% of the time you hear from hunters that Shot and Got their birds. But the thing that I think about is , how many birds out there are killed by arrows and never found. I've shot one bird with the compound and had to go find it after the shot. I didn't like they way the bird exspired and most times I see the same thing with bow shot birds,on Video's all the time, you hit them and they Fly or Run out of sight. How many Hunter tell of the Ones they could not find ? I tell everyone that hunts with a bow to try to keep it to head shots only its a Hit or Miss...BT

Bowhunting anything is often that way. You hardly ever see the prey drop within sight of you. I would say right now my favorite is gun but I'm trying to get more and more into bowhunting turkeys. I use the early bow season (Mar 25 start) to scout for my gun permit season (Apr. 13 start).

I haven't killed one with my bow yet, but will be carrying it this spring. Bosstom, I think headshots are a lot to ask of bowhunters. I've never seen a gobbler keep his head still long enough. My shot (if I'm lucky enough to get one) will be broadside aimed at the upper legs with expandable broadheads. A turkey needs his legs obviously to run, but also to get off the ground and fly. I'll also back my draw weight down to 55 lbs, to reduce the chance of a thru-and-thru shot. Wish me luck!

It's the bow for me. I love to have to be close to the game I hunt. For turkey I've limited my shots to under 20 yards only.
Honestly, I think the turkeys have a REAL good chance of beating me at this hunt.

I like the nice clean kill of a shotgun. If you hit a turkey with bow vs hitting a deer its more than likely going to be harder to find the turkey than deer well for one thing they can fly away and you might never see them again.
