Scope or tru glo sights?
#1
Which do you think is better to put on my 12 ga. Nova? I like the idea of a scope but then I would have to take it off if I wanted to use the gun for rabbit or pheasant hunting. The Tru Glo sights look really good too but are they really necessary?

I like the scope. You can buy a "saddle mount" that basically fits on your gun by replacing the pins in the receiver of your gun. This way you can remove and replace with the scope staying close to zero.

Without a doubt, a scoped setup on your turkey gun is the ultimate setup. Everyone that I know who has tried a scope agrees with this also! If you give one a try, you'll never go back to open sights!

I also have a simmons pro diamond on my 835. If you watch ebay you can get one cheap. I take it off in the fall if i get the itch to take the shot gun out for deer season, now that i have been bow hunting that doesnt happen too often. But i can usually have the scope dialed back in within two or three shots....

Tru-Glo user here and would highly reccommend them!I like the Magnum gobble- dot Tri-Dot system!Cant say for sure that they are neccassary because I killed birds for years without them, but theres no question in low light conditions for those early morning gobblers they help immensley in getting a good bead on old gobblers head n neck!!

I use a pentax lightseeker 1.5x for my 1300.....my dad uses the tru glo sights on his 1300, both set ups are excellant....dad didn't want the extra weight of the scope, I liked the scope.....mine has a circle with cross hairs......the circle represents 30" at 40 yards, so it also acts as a range finder, beings the average turkey is around 30" tall, I always figured when it's sticking out of both sides of the circle, I've got the green light anytime....it all depends on what you want.....furthermore, for rabbit, squirrels, grouse and skeets, it gave me an excuse to buy another shotgun.....LOL
