Default Turkey gun

I am looking to purchase a new shotgun for turkey hunting. I want something that is light weight with a barrel length of 22-24 inches. What do you guys suggest. Any suggestions will be grateful. Thanks

I have used either a 870 or 1100 for years BUT.... I got a Browning BPS 10ga, not this past summer but the summer before to use on deer sometimes and for mostly one geese.... but I have playing around with some turkey loads in it and I think I am going to have to try it out this spring.. It has a 28" barrel with a xtra full choke in it, I am going to try a few of the aftermarket chokes in it but this set up is awsome.... it is hell on paper from 0 out to 70 yards altough I would not shoot past 45 or so with the gun.... just my 2cents

Oh there is loads of great turkey guns. I love the 870 but also have a Winchester 1300 Ranger and it's a great turkey gun as well. (once I found the right choke for it.)

I agree w/ farmcntry - there are loads of great guns. It's going to come down to personal preference and what you are looking for. Auto vs pump, etc.

For my money - ya can't beat my Mossberg 835.

Of course, if you don't hold on tight - it'll put a beating on ya.

Thanks for the replies, but can you get an 870 in a barrel of 22-24 inches?
