Cody is doing very well. He is eating more and feeling much better. They cauterized some raw spots in his nose yesterday to help prevent further bleeding and packed his nose with dissolvable gauze. He was not happy about that! Monday the 11th he will be getting a bone marrow aspiration to see how the new bone marrow grafted. They will be counting chromosomes and we hope and pray that the new ones will replace all of Cody’s. AND on Tuesday he will be leaving the hospital and going to the Ronald McDonald House until day 100 which will be April 21. On day 100 he will have test done on his organs and a bone marrow aspiration. Today is day #28 post bone marrow transplant. (They count days post transplant until 1 year and that time he will an extensive work up of all his organs and another bone marrow aspiration) Eventually he will be able to go home on weekends and very soon Chelsea will be able to come see him. She has really missed her brother but I have to say that it has been peaceful without the sibling arguments. The graft versus host disease is under control and the liver disease is getting much much better. He doesn't have his yellow suntan anymore. Once Cody gets to the Ronald McDonald house the Birchell family can all be together again even if it is just on the weekends.
Thanks so much to everyone for the continued support. We appreciate all the kindness that has been showed to all of us in so many ways during this time. We are forever grateful. I don't know how to fully express our gratitude. We love you and pray GOD's blessing upon you.
