Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default RE: A gobbler pic from Tree climber

To start with I would like to thank GOBBCALLER for posting this for me.
sorry to be so long getting back to you'al,mother was sick.

This bird was ,or still is my largest bird to date.
he was 21 1/2 lbs. 10 1/2 beard,I took him several years ago in our hunting club.
it was foggy and real cool amd wet,I mean a lot of water.had to wade water knee deep to get to the ridge he flew down on.he gobbled maybe 50 or 60 times on the limb of a big cypress tree in a pond.I was about 200 yrds. from him watching, that was as close as I could get because of the open country.I don't know how he got to where he was because it was 200 yrds of deep water from where I was to the pond.
at fly down time I gave a tree yelp, and he double gobbled and pitched out and sailed like a big air plane to within about 60 yrds. of me.I never saw or heard a hen so I went to calling,he struted all the way to me gobbling ever breath.at 25 yrds. I took him with the Winchester copper plated #6's from my BPS.
a buddy of mine sat and listened to the whole thing.
I tried to get this bird registered with the NWTF,but they said because the guy with me was not a member of the NWTF they could not accept my application.
that's like saying they don't take my word,so I droped out of the NWTF for that reason.
glad you'al like the bird.
