Meh I don't think using a .410 for turkey has anything to do with just being an experienced turkey hunter. Since loads of TSS have been made more available for the smaller gauge shotguns it has totally changed their use as turkey guns. I have set up several .410s for new turkey hunters both young and older. All have been successful killing turkeys with them. Some have gone on to bigger gauge guns but some like my 84 year old buddy in Michigan stick with the .410 He would have a hard time carrying a 12 gauge and would likely cripple birds trying to hold and shoot it. However with the .410 he is a turkey killing machine both fall and spring.
