Call makers - a slate call question
#1

What glue have you found to work the best to attach slate (real PA quarried slate) to wood?
I've made a few test models, using both wood glue and gorilla stuff. The gorilla stuff foams some and swells out the seams, making a messy but durable attachment. The wood glue is cleaner, but I have concerns about durability in the field, especially damp conditions.

Yes. They'll be slate calls. Last season I lost one of my fave, go to calls. And of course, it's been out of production for a long time. So, I set out to make one, and a few for friends. And then I got carried away at the wood shop and got more parts for more calls.

That’s cool. It’s rewarding calling one in with something you made yourself. Did you turn your own pots? I made my first pot call in 2006 and still start every season with it. Once the bug bites, you will end up only using pots that you made yourself. Lots of trial and error goes into getting the sound your after.

Google Custom Calls Online.
I use that forum all the time researching when I make calls.
