Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Turkey Reaping & Decoying- Unsafe? Irresponsible Danger? A Review…

Three years ago I penned my thoughts on Turkey Fanning, Turkey Reaping which has gained popularity by hunters and prominently shown on many Outdoor TV shows. The list includes some long-time veterans of the outdoor industry which I find surprising as most of those labeled with such a moniker have gotten there by being careful, conservative in their actions. Here’s a link to my original blog post: http://www.turkey-talk.com/tblog/?p=126

Back then I stepped up on one big soapbox and said my peace. No apologies, no retractions as my thoughts have not softened or changed much on the subject. I sure rattled a few cages and there was plenty of pushback and claims that I had no proof, no such foul play has ever occurred, totally safe, an elitist, and so on… I’ll step back up again…

Some areas I could see it working , and being done safely , the safety of your shot , back ground etc should be looked at before beginning this tactic , or setting up like any hunting scenario if your on private and know with out a doubt no one is around go for it , I know a few guys that tried it here in WVA with out any luck gobbler went his own way , I say to each his own , ... But it's not for me I don't use decoys either , I set up and call if I can't call him in I don't wanna kill him that's the game IMO. I was shot when I was 18 turkey hunting so I'm extra careful in what I do or try and have showed my kids the same if I was in Illinois or some where wide open I might give it a shot , but doubtful .. I like chasing my mountain birds in WVA like I was showed and taught , going head to head and testing your calling abilitys and woodsmanship and shotgun only don't use rifles .. I think those should be outlawed also
