I know some people like the pattern tight and others like
a nice even scatter across the paper. Any input? I recently just picked up a Weatherby PA 459 turkey gun in 12 Guage. For the average price of a 500 dollar shotgun, in my opinion you can't go wrong. I will say the choke it came with is garbage. I picked up a Carlson choke tube (longbeard xr I think is the name). Oh and make sure you get a beretta/benelli mobile choke. The one that says Weatherby doesn't fit pretty annoying. Anyway it says it was made for the longbeard ammo made by winchester, as I looked at that specific ammo and saw the price, I couldn't spend that amount for 10 rounds of turkey ammo. Anyway I looked thru and picked up a 2 3/4 load and then tried my brothers ammo he got that didn't work well in his. He had 3 inch 2oz 5 shot federal premium. Both loads will definitely work. I was really impressed with the federal ammo and choke combo. At 30 yards 96 pellets were in target. At 40 yards 41 pellets were in target. I am happy with this grouping by far. I am no spokesman for Weatherby but man the gun is great. It's light, smooth, and shoots great. Highly recommend especially for a 500 dollar gun. It also came with the pistol grip and has a base you can put on for red dot or scope if you want.
