Shot this bird years ago, and as I walked up on him, I can see that he had most of his beard ripped off? Very disappointing to say the least. Figured that some ice must of formed on his beard and he got it torn off?

In a severe winter a beard or part of it can freeze and break off and the longer it is the more the chance of it happening.
