Turkey and tree stands
#11
I have killed a number of turkeys from tree stands. This was during bow season for though, and it was fall turkey season as well. I don't think I would call from a tree stand as they would pick you off pretty quick.

In PA you can take a turkey out of a treestand if it is open, no cover on sides. If there is cover on the sides it is considered to be a blind and while turkey hunting, the stand would have to be covered top and sides because to legally hunt turkey from a blind in PA, it must hide the hunter top, bottom and sides. In addition, to hunt turkey from a blind in PA, the blind must be made of synthetic material, you can't build on out of wood or other natural materials so that would make hunting turkey from one of those wooden tower stands illegal. The legislature really dropped the ball on that law when they amended the law to allow blinds. Prior to that hunting turkey from a blind was illegal period.

You obviously didn't read all the posts in this thread because I have already stated earlier that it's illegal to hunt a turkey with a gun from a treestand in MI.

I did read it, I bow hunt for turkey and forgot to indicate that I don't know of any specifically bow hunting restrictions. But as you pointed out MI restricts firearms etc. As tree stands are generally associated with bow hunting and not firearms I figured my post was implying it was relating to archery. Sorry for the confusion.
