Question Box Call Stopped Working

I am new to hunting and I have encountered a problem with my box call. It has stopped producing proper sound. Its not that the tone is off, it barely makes any noise at all suddenly. I have tried adjusting the screw thinking maybe it got loose but it didnt help at all. Everything I have found online about box calls no longer working have to do with it having got wet, but this call did not get wet and even if it did, it is a waterproof Quaker Boy Typhoon. Any ideas what might be the problem and how to fix it???

If it is waterproof box call - water is of little concern. You somehow lost your friction point. I wonder if you got some body oil or something else on the lid surface and then either box side.

I would wash the under side lid with some dish detergent and then each side. Quaker Boy has applied a black colored coating to which does not need chalking. I have a similar call and it has a black surface.
Let it dry thoroughly and see if that helps.

Or put a rubber band around the body and try to use the call with the rubber band in place. That helps put a liitle more tension on the lid.

If not try some chalk.

The other thing to look for is cracks in the side walls of the box of the call. You might have cracked the side of the box and when that happens your tones will be much reduced and lost.

If it still is sick contact Quaker Boy.

Try chalk, and if that doesn't work buy a new one

That waterproof coating will wear off eventually. If that's the case, chalk might help, but more likely the call is done.

If it is pretty much done, try lightly sanding the areas (with the wood grain) to freshen up the friction points, then chalk.
