Well our season opened a week ago and there were birds where I hunt. Last weekend I know of 4 toms that were taken on land next to where I hunt. I'm on private land but the birds are gone. I see one or two roaming around in the evenings but I haven't heard a thing in the morning. I have hunted this same spot for years and always had good luck and sometimes it goes down to the wire. LOL I guess I should have patience and weather the storm. What is our thoughts?? It has been cold and windy ever since the season opened. Thanks

seems like it almost always goes that way here, season opens and lots of activity that week, the next week it seems like it just shuts down, I always had more and better success the last 2 weeks of season, they don't gobble as much but they come to the call better.

I have to agree with RR on this.. They can be very strange at times.. Here it is going to be a new way of hunting for me as they have turned it into an all day hunting season. That is going to mean more hunters hitting them harder during the first 2 weeks or so.. But, as RR stated the turkeys should come around..
