how many calls?
#2

While I'm always supportive of OWNING tons of calls, I'd be hard pressed to want to carry 7 calls. I take one or two slate pots and a couple diaphragms. Occasionally leave a pot at home and replace it with a box. Been working on being able to leave the hand calls at home altogether.

One slate with 4 strikers, one Lynches box call that I bought in the 70s, 4-5 diaphragm calls and a crow call...I seldom use an owl hoot but if I do, I use my mouth...I prefer for them to gobble by themselves on the roost before moving into position...

One slate with two or three different strikers, one box, and a little carry case that fits all of diaphragm calls. I don't use shock calls, as the private property I hunt is mostly fields and the small patches of woods we do have the turkeys don't roost in. No sense in waking them up when I know they all roost in the next lot over. Luckily no one over there hunts them, or they'd never make it to me. But yeah, multiple boxes or slates start to take up too much room. I try to travel light. If it doesn't fit in a vest pocket or my decoy bag, it doesn't come.
