Bulletproof_JBE 02-26-2014 05:21 PM

what would a good budget gun be that would come with chokes for both turkey and upland hunting?

w123t 02-27-2014 05:05 AM

Get a Remington model 870 pump in modified choke for
your upland hunting , then add a good Turkey choke for
Turkey season. Good Luck !

cool gun choice and with the 24 if you dont want to wait till the turkeys in 30 yards switch over to your 222 barrel:)

Bbj270 02-27-2014 04:01 PM

I mainly use the 24 in the fall in the spring I am mostly hunting with my dad and he has the 223 on his valmet.

DPHMIN 02-28-2014 08:12 PM

I use a synthetic 3 inch magnum 870. With an extra full turkey choke, it does all I ask it to do.

BOWHUNTERCOP 03-01-2014 05:22 AM

I have two: Mossberg 835, and Remington 11-87 Super Mag

havaianas71 03-03-2014 10:41 PM

Obtain a Remington version 870 water pump in revised choke for

your upland seeking , then include a excellent Poultry choke for

Poultry season. Good Luck !

xOEDragonx 03-04-2014 06:30 AM

Remington 870 20ga with Jellyhead choke. Got it for Christmas when I turned 11, and it has never given me a reason to want a different gun. It's killed all of my birds already, with many more to come.

TWOWITHONE 03-04-2014 06:34 AM

Winchester1300 12 guage. Shooting a KGT 665.and using Winchester X/R # 6 shot cant go wrong.

Turkey gun

Winchester SX2 NWTF turkey gun with a Burris Fast Fire 3 on top without a doubt.
My SX2 really patterns well with Win Extended Range #6 in 3 1/2 inch. Comfortable taking birds past 40 yards with this combo.

Browning BPS 10

Grawlix 03-09-2014 04:56 PM

Answer 1: the one that's with me when I put the hammer on Ol' Tom.

Answer 2: it's sort of a tie; I have a Baikal 153 that is superdy-duperdy. I also have a Browning Gold 10 that I just love.

I've hunted with others, and taken a few turkeys with a Mossy 835, but those two
have got to my new favorite (together)

i would have to agree i suppose if the bird walked out i could drop the hammer on him with a different gun:D

yes but it is highly illeagl

Bbj270 03-15-2014 02:15 PM

in west Virginia rifles are legal to hunt turkeys. I killed my first turkey with a 22. I know of many turkeys killed with a 22 lr. Try head neck shots. works good on fall birds would recommend the 22 magnum over the 22 lr. me and dad use combo guns in 12/222 and 12/223.

Sheridan 03-15-2014 05:53 PM

12 gauge Beretta Extrema (camo of course), x-full turkey choke, 3.5" #4 turkey loads.

Work as a good waterfowl gun also (actually main reason for owning it) !!!

Either way, dead bird.................................

yes but almost every state in the country will ONLY let you use a shotgun so yes it is leagal in VERY few states

flags 03-20-2014 05:49 AM

I mostly use an old Winchester pump that I've had for years. It is always behind the seat of the truck so when I need a gun it is handy and I've taken more game with that shotgun than all the others I own combined. However, this year I'll be hunting my native CO fr a Rio and when I do that I'm using an old Browning A-5 that belonged to my father. I lost him last year to cancer and I'm using is gun in memory of him when I'm out west.
