Either will get the job done. All personal preference. I am a fan of the 500. I have used mine now for 15+ years with no complaints. I have a 20" bbl and comp-and-choke tube. Patterns very well out to 40yds, haven't shot past that distance much though.

I have been shooting an 835 for years now, its reliable and durable and everything I need in a turkey shotgun.
