wny turkey hits the ground
Well let me start off by saying, I suck at this turkey hunting thing LOL. But every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
I left the house as it was starting to get light out, I pulled into the field and drove back to my woods at 5:30. Grabbed my stuff and made the 15 min walk back to my spot. Set up decoys, blind, chair and sat down. Got the slate, box and mouth call out. Lit a cig and made about 6 cuts on the slate. Didn't even put gloves or mask on yet just sat and enjoyed the woods.
3 drags of my cig and are you kidding me. 2 hens walking right up to the decoys. The jake was following. Great, talk about being unprepaired. Hens got distracted and the jake went to the jake decoy and I pulled up and when he came from behind the tree I let him have it. Got to the bird and took out my phone and it was 5:57.
