2013 NWTF Convention

Just got back home from this year's convention. It's amazing how much money one man can spend!
I followed some advice from the board and got the best owl hooter there - Hooks Harrison Hoot'n Stick. Awesome sound.
I couldn't believe I did it but I also dropped $60 on a custom crow call! The maker and his two sons and another family member won 1st through 4th place in the crow call competition.
Two callmakers that I would suggest to anyone out there are Dave Halloran Calls and Rocky Top Game Calls. Derby City calls are nice but are difficult for me to hold the way I like to hold a call. Lonzo's Calls are very nice too but don't play as easy as the first two.

Buckner Custom Calls made the crow call. Micheal Buckner. They won 1st - 5th place in the crow call makers competition this year. They have won some in the past as well. They make a Hunting Grade call that they were selling at the convention for 40 bucks.
I played a ton of calls Friday. Dave Halloran's calls were 40 I believe while his box calls were $100. Rocky Top box calls were 40 for the long box and 50 for the laminated. Their pot calls run somewhere in the 40$ range. If you want a pot call under 25 dollars you will have to look at one of the commercially made calls.
Woodhaven Cherry Classic is also a great call as is the Cody call. The Woodhaven is pricey but the Cody is a bit more reasonable.
