Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

This year will be different for me.....

Default This year will be different for me.....

For a couple reasons. On Friday, July 13th, 2012 I had a heart attack at the tender age of 37. I had complete blockage in one of my arteries and ended up getting a stent. It is amazing that I didn't even have symptoms just a few months earlier as I roamed the turkey woods. I guess the gobbles will sound louder and the days seem crisper. I can't wait.

Part of the rehab that I have given my self is woodwork. It was one way to get my butt up off the couch. This year I will be using pot and peg calls that I made myself. I am addicted to making them. It has gotten so bad that I have only duck hunted 4 times this year. I have only deer hunted once.

Hopefully I will be able to share some pictures of myself and some birds taken with my calls.

I remember the first bird I took using one of my own calls. Great feeling of accomplishment. There's some good kits for sale to make our own crow and owl calls as well. Woodworking is a great hobby. If you do not already have one, get yourself a lathe.

I bought a lathe already. It's what has been keeping me away from the internet. So far I have given away or sold every call I have made. There are a couple that I need to stick in my vest before I get the urge to sell them.

Hey sorry to read about your mishap and I know how call making goes.......my hobby of turkey calls turned into a job to which I stopped making them. But after 2000 or so I guess it was okay.....and I never ever sold one! So I know how you feel.

Sorry to hear that bud! Hope you have a great year this season and we put some BAMA birds on the ground! Glad you have a new hobby and bet it's going to be awesome calling in a bird on your own call.

Planning on hitting Oakmulgee up the first week. I've been "turkey hunting" for three weeks now at work. Me and my buddies have killed the same birds 3-4 times already. LOL.
