It's normally the hardest bird next to the Oscellated to take because of only living in Florida and being almost entirely on private land down there. The latter is the reason I've never tried to go down there to complete my slam.

From: Lutz, Florida. Turkey woods in the spring.
Plenty of public land down here. Three million plus acres. The real problem is the majority of the prime turkey hunting land is by quota only. The areas that do not require a quota can get REAL crowded.

I have been to FL twice for osceolas. I used Billy Henderson of Deep South Outfitters. In 2008 I went down and completed my grand slam and took my son down last spring and he missed. From my 2 trips I would say that they aren't as vocal, and it doesn't take alot of calling for them. Take your thermocell because the mosquitos are like humming birds. Good luck!

Not my best year by far. Went out to Wy in Oct and shot a 3x2 mule deer and a doe antelope. One doe deer here in Ohio with my bow and could never get close enough to a shooter buck. Tuesday was the last day of muzzleloader season and I was out hunting saw a shooter buck put a sneak on him, had him broadside at 150 yards and he was right in line with some houses. Not a safe shot, that's about how my whole deer season has went this year. How about you?
