What do you think of these leftover birds????..
Inasmuch as my shooters were unavailable the last 2 days of the hunt, I decided to scout and see what birds are left for the next spring
hunt.
This is what I got. A promising lot to look forward to next spring.

That is a bummer they didn't show your last hunting days. But looks good for next season.
I was almost in your boat too. Took the g/f to Wisconsin the last weekend of season. Hot 90 degrees and miserable 3 mile walk in with gear. Had a softball game I could make if we left by 11 AM, so decided to hunt til then. 3 Toms showed up at 10 AM and came right in to the decoys. Boom went the dynamite.
Never saw another hunter at this public property. I know there are at least 2 nice toms left for 2013, and heard another 5 or 6 gobbling that morning. Great habitat. I think I found an overlooked winner spot for future years.

Thanks for the comments Zim.
I think the 3 non strutters looked like very young birds albeit their beards are long.
I've got to keep an eye on them and see how they develop.
