Spooky birds on Public Land is just the reason I shoot
only two shells HeviShot Hevi13 or Magnum Blend. When
those birds hang up due to being called at all the time
these shells will rock their worlds out to 60 yards. That
my friend will equal the playing field.

Got lucky this year when another tom hung up at 80, but a hen showed up and towed him right in to the decoy.

THEY ALL STILL NEED PATTERNED AND MATCHED TO THE RIGHT CHOKE IN YOUR GUN.... JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOOT THESE SHELLS DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL HAVE A KILLING PATTERN AT 60 YDS. MOST GUNS EVEN WITH THESE SHELLS WILL NOT PRODUCE A KILLING PATTERN AT 60 YDS.
please everyone who reads this. do not just assume because it says they can kill at 60 yds means you just go buy them and put them in your gun and you can kill at 60 yds.

while both these plus the winchesters and the federal hw and nitro company are all top of the line in turkey ammo.

I am backed up to over 300,000 acres of public land in Northern Florida, but every year spring turkey hunting pressure is getting higher. This year there were days the roads were buzzing with trucks just after first light. I wish they would learn to find a tom & stay put until at least 10 am. I believe many of them just can't stay put long enough to harvest a bird!

Zim... no it is not obvious esp to new hunters. maybe you have not noticed how many people do not pattern their gun. or know anything about patterning their gun. they buy a "turkey shell" and go out and think they have a turkey gun. some will kill a turkey.
there are alot of die hard gun gurus that will stop at nothing, that can not get a killing pattern at 60 yds with the shells mentioned. that is putting 80 pellets ( preferably 100) in a 10 inch circle at 60 yds. 80 virtually guarentees a kill. it is the standard that every turkey hunter should strive for.

Obvious to me. I mostly bowhunt, so I'm used to being patient before shooting. When I use a shotgun for turkey I have the same mentality. But all I hunt is public so I like the idea of leveling the playing field. I'm going to try the HeviShot and see what they can do.

Zim. I hunt public as well and kill my birds public most every year. I use copper plated lead. old(pre flight control wad) federal 3.5 inch 2oz 6's. remington 870 supermag 28 inch barrel indian creek .660 choke and get and average 127 in a 10 circle at 40 yds. it is a good hunting set up and i have no problems killing birds. heavy would give me better numbers esp if i shot the 7's but that doesn tmean i would have a killing pattern at 60 nor does it mean the 7's would have the energy to kill at 60.
I too bowhunt and shoot 3d and put in a lot of time to parctice. i am not doubting you would put in the time and effort i am saying most people esp newbies wont. yes thr are a lot of people that bow hunt that wouldnt as well. just look at all the guys that do not practice with their bow or even the ones that go the day before season opens and buys a bow and says i am going hunting tomorrow. people just dont like to put in the effort.

This year I decided to try a new state, Wisconsin. Due to cheap NR tags. Picked up a leftover Wisconsin 4th season tag and tried a new public property I'd never been to. Left home at 2 AM and hiked in as far as I could go to a place I'd found on Google Earth. Was just one other hunter at the front. Anyway got set up and in 30 minutes passed on a bearded hen. Then 30 minutes later a big boy showed up and I sat there as he strutted for 45 minutes at 80, 70, 60, 50 yards. Was prepared to pass, but a lone hen showed up and towed him in to the deke! I waited until he was as close as he was going to get 30 yards and took him!
Check him out, he's in first place in the Huntingnet Turkey Contest. 4 beards.
He went right down. I only put 2 BB's in the breast. Hate it when there's lots to pick out.

The Hevi13 and Magnum Blend shells are lethal IMO. The
density of the HeviShot material simply retains it's energy
out to greater distances than does traditional lead. I agree
that you should pattern your gun and match it up with the
right choke but the AMMO there is no doubt in my book.
