5 jakes (Need strategy assistance)
All,
I have 5 jakes (nice ...) roaming my property. Just to pi** me off, they just walked though my yard 10 minutes ago and the season only opens tomorrow.
What would be a good decoy/call strategy for this type of "brotherhood". They are always all 5 together (have seen them quite a few times) and all confirmed with beards. I was thinking putting out two hens as decoys.
I am fairly new to this so would like some help from the HuntingNet collective.
Thank

If you want to shoot a jake I would think just 1 hen decoy would do the trick. Just for starters I would also pick up a box caller. So that you can get some calls out that are loud and if they come in close you can give them a softer call. Box callers can be used in numerous ways and are fairly easy to use. If you had done much calling before than get a slate call and try using that. I just feel that the box calls are a bit easier to use in the begining.
