My new camo H&R 20 Gauge has a modified screw in choke. I don't know much about chokes. Was wondering if it's worth the money to get another choke or if what's on will do just fine.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Something with a tighter constriction would be better for turkey. What shot size and shell brand were you thinking about using? Do you have a full choke tube that you could try?

Agreed, shoot it though and see what happens in practice too. The aftermarket chokes are MUCH better usually and specifically designed to shoot that tight group you want. Also try different shell size and shot combo's and brands. You have until 4/25 so you have time. Fellow Hoosier!

Before you buy another choke tube, try your Modified choke and say a #5 turkey load at 20-30-40 yards. See what the pattrern looks like. I'd want to see 10-12 shot in the "neck/head" zone of the target to feel OK about that as the max distance ... whatever that works out for your shotgun and Modified choke tube. I will add that my daughter uses a 20 ga. Rem. 870 and a "Pure Gold" (.570) turkey choke. She has had excellent results out to her longest shot (and kill) , which was about 40 yards.
