Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Jo Daviess, Fall 2011

After a few years of hunting spring gobblers, I've decided to give the fall a try. Unfortunately I don't have any connections in Jo Daviess for private land so I am forced to see what is available in public land.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I might have the best odds of being successful? I'm aware of several state recreation areas with public access such as the Winston Tunnel, Rall Woods, and Tapley Woods. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

witkowsky you may consider..., gun may require a special permit, bow probably not...

fall turkeys can be very tough!

I usually just get a bow tag and hope to catch one at some point during the fall deer archery season.

Yes, Witkowsky is special permit only for fall shotgun and I don't own a bow. There's still a few options in the area though.

I'm still going to go out and give it a shot on opening weekend. A day out in the woods is better than sitting at home.
