Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Turkey #4 Thank you Kansas

After getting all my teaching wrapped up Friday by 12:30 we headed back to Kansas to try to fill my last tag. We got there at a perfect time and seen around 30 birds on the farm we were hunting. We were excited for the morning hunt and had a great spot picked out. We get there get set up and a Tom lands a 100 out and is strutting a gobbling his butt off. I had two hen decs out and he was closing distance the bad part he got around 50 yds. but I was using my bow at the time and did not feel comfortable shooting that far. He then walked out around 70 yds and avoided us. Needless to say he did that 2 other time that morning so we went to a different field that evening. We sat a good while with out seeing anything and then I seen a tail fan off to the right around 300 yds away 2 hours later he started closing the distance but he was staying a good distance from the blind unlike the hens. I said what the heck and I gave him a shot and he dropped in his tracks. When I looked back at the blind it seemed a little far so I ranged it and it was 70 yds. I forgot to mention with my shotgun not my bow but it was an awesome hunt.

This season it's seemed like all of the practicing long shots with my bow wasn't all for nothing more than any other! Congrats on filling those tags!
