Need help with my plan/set-up
#1
Gonna go home towards the end of April (Geneva, AL) and try my luck there. I have never turkey hunted there, we only have like 30 acres, but my dad sees turkeys a lot (prob b/c no pressure). I have a jake and a hen decoy, I can yelp pretty good with a mouth call (but that's it), and I have the camo/being still thing down. What should I do? Set up close to where my dad usually sees them and put out the decoys, do some yelping, be still and wait? What is the best arrangement for the jake and hen and what cadence (3 or 5, or?) is best for yelps? I really appreciate all the insight guys. In my second year, I have learned so much, but still know very little!

Id sit an wait where he see the birds cuz chances are if he is always seeing the birds there you gunna see em again. and im not sure about the yelps tho I usually just use my slate and mouth call a couple times for the sit an wait game

With only 30 acres I would listen close to were I park at daylight before I walk in. You will hear a turkey if it's on or near your place! If you hear them you'll have to go from there. If not, like compton said, go were he see's them and sit still and call about every 20 or 30 min. If there regulars there, they'll show up. I don't use decoys a lot, but do like them in big fields or cutovers were birds usually hang up out of range.
