For those who have used Hevi-13 for several years, do you feel the load has changed?
On other boards there is a lot of talk of last years Hevi and previous years Hevi, patterning much better than the Hevi available today? They claim they can not put up the same numbers with the same load now, and insist something has changed with the load?
I have no expierence, but have some on the way to try. The reason I went with it, was due to all the impressive patterns over the years, now they claim patterns are not as good? My main criteria of picking a load was one that would be consistant from lot to lot, but I'm reading differently? I personally do not want a inconsistant load from lot to lot, kind of defeats the purpose of patterning, only to have a good pattern change with the next lot available you must buy?
So those with a few years expierence or so with Hevi-13, what's your opinion with your latest lots of Hevi? Way less numbers?
Thanks

I'm not so sure on that. The 12 guage have changed and they do this for business reasons and not performance necessarily IMO. A new load can be marketed as new and improved and then everyone is more likely to buy it. Now it may in fact end up being a better load for you but not necessarily. I mean why did they discontinue the white shelled 1 3/4 oz load in 12 guage that won the NWTF stills for a number of years. Any guy I know who has shot that shell wishes they could get more. Why did they mess with that?....answer: new business.
Every shell manufacturer is going to have that issue buckhound. When you find a good one just stock pile it for a few years.

The wad is different in the 3" 2oz #7 loads that I was shooting last year, and the ones that I am shooting this year.
According to a rep at EnvironMetal there has possibly been a powder change as well, but that has not been verified.

And as Hurricane stated also reading many hevi users claiming wad and powder change? And they are not happy campers from what I read? There view is, you got something good, leave it alone, and they changed it. Many are already jumping ship to other loads due to this, as many claim as high as 100 less BB's in a 10in. circle @ 40 yards, as compared to previous loads. they don't like the new loads?

I haven't tried any of the Hevi13 stuff as yet, I still have quite a few of the Nitro company shells left in my stock. I'll be curious as to how this post comes out, because I was thinking of switching when the time comes.

Aside from shooting two different shells which may or may not shoot to the same point of aim (I am sure you will test beforehand), I highly doubt you will be satisfied with the #4's at longer range due to them having such a low pellet count to begin with.
