Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Great turkey kill

Team 4 - I just posted information and pics of my kill today in Illinois. It snowed heavy Christmas Eve. We got 6" of new snow. I got this kill in an area of 10 acres of bean field with my new homemade wooden wagon blind. Shot at 1:16 p.m. on December 26, 2010. I hope you like the pics. This is the largest bird I have killed in 11 years of bow hunting and 92 birds. It was shot in the head at 10 yards with my new Z7 Matthews bow. It weighed in at 20 pounds, 10 ounces and has a 12 1/8" beard with 1.5" spurs. It scored: 20.625 + 15 + 15 + 24.25 = 74.875. I still get excited after all these years! Enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the kill!

The Smokey Bearded Hen - a Merriam from Nebraska. It had a 9" beard. I have been told that it is the most rare turkey in the US.

Thanks for the nice congratulatory comments! This turkey was one of the nicest long beards I ever shot. I'm having it mounted, also, to join the other 8 full mounts I have LOL. I keep telling myself that this will be the last full mount, but I keep adding to my collection. LOL
